I’m Kaarthic Jayanthi Senthil — a sound designer, re-recording mixer, production sound mixer, and sound editor based in Mumbai. I work across Film, OTT, Advertising, Animation, and pretty much anything that needs a sound specialist.

I grew up in Coimbatore and got into sound around 17, mostly out of curiosity. I was drawn to the details—background noise, texture, silence, the things people don’t actively notice but still respond to. That curiosity turned into something more through time spent around studios, artists, and projects that pushed me to take it seriously.

 

I studied Visual Communication at PSG College of Arts and Science, and later trained in Sound Design at Whistling Woods International in Mumbai. That mix—thinking visually, working sonically—still defines how I approach projects. I’m also a member of the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE).

Most of what I do is about decisions—what to keep, what to remove, where to hold back, and where to push. I am of the belief that good sound isn’t always about adding more. It’s about knowing what matters in a moment.

Outside of work, I’m usually still listening—recording ambiences when I travel, picking up textures from everyday spaces, building a library of sounds that eventually find their way into projects. A lot of what I use comes from real environments, not just plugins or presets.

​

I’m also into watches, coffee, and cooking—things that rely on detail, timing, and process. It’s not very different from sound in that sense.

​

At the end of it, I like seeing what my craft can do to a story.
